- that any accompanying documentation is genuine and has not been tampered with by anyone to the best of
your knowledge
- that the vehicle has not been re-sprayed.If it has then this will be brought to the attention
of the potential purchaser without his/her asking.
- that the price to any purchaser will be no higher than the price on this website.

It is the responsibilty of the potential purchaser to confirm the accuracy of ALL the information concerning a vehicle
including :
- an independent HPI check
- an independent mechanical examination with a detailed comprehensive report
- looking at the service records,frequency,locations,costs,items replaced/repaired
- looking at the Mot certificates,do the dates and mileages match up,does the vehicle appear to have done more than is recorded?
- Why is the car for sale? Did you get a reasonable answer ?
- If the price is substantially lower than similar models in similar conditions ask why ?
- How long has the owner had the car ( Refer to the log book ) If his/her name is not on the log book - walk away
A genuine log book will hold the answers to a lot of your questions.If you have doubts about its authenticity call the DVLA
and discuss your fears and findings.Check log book for :
- correct chassis number.
- correct original color,unless amended on the log book.
- check that the mileage reasonably tallies with subsequent mot certificates.
- check for previous owners,too many owners,or owners for very short periods spells trouble.
- check for date of manufacture
- check number plate id against all mot certificates
- if the number plate is private ask to see supporting documentation direct from the DVLA authorising the transfer
There are more items that may need your attention :
- Is a private plate included in the sale ?
- check the insurance group (independently yourself and ask to see the sellers insurance document to confirm )
- can you afford the vehicle,the insurance and the running costs ?
- always take someone with you to examine a private vehicle
- always arrange to have the car started from cold
- always try to arrange to meet the seller at his home,not in a street or secluded area
- treat the vehicle carefully and with respect ..until you've paid for it.
- Always try to pay by Bankers draft after asking for proof of identity and address from the seller.Make sure the spelling is correct
as a Bankers draft is cash.
